Elder L. Tom Perry, Beloved Apostle, Dies at Age 92
Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles passed away at his home today at about 3:00 p.m. He was 92 years old. He is pictured here at the dedication of the Brigham City Utah Temple.

139th Temple Dedicated in Brigham City, Utah
Returning to his home town, President Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve dedicated the Brigham City Utah Temple—Utah's 14th temple—on Sunday, September 23. The double white spires are visible throughout the region.

Labor Day Crowds Patiently Wait for Chance to See Brigham City Utah Temple
The beautiful Brigham City Utah Temple is capturing the attention of tens of thousands of visitors during its public open house. Labor Day weekend saw lines that stretched around the block, as no guest is turned away. The open house continues through Saturday, September 15, before it is closed to the public and prepared for dedication. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to Utah congregations on Sunday, September 23.

United States Flag Raised at Brigham City Utah Temple
On Thursday morning at 9:00, the United States flag was raised to the top of the Brigham City Utah Temple flagpole by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), followed by a moving recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance by the gathered crowd. The temple open house begins tomorrow.

Public Open House Begins Next Week in the "Peach City"
The doors of the Brigham City Utah Temple will open to the public next week for a rare opportunity to see inside an LDS temple. Peach trees have been planted on the grounds in honor of the area's roots in fruit growing. "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matthew 7:18-20).

Open house tickets for the Brigham City Utah Temple are available today beginning at 10:00 a.m. at templeopenhouse.lds.org or by calling toll free 1-855-537-2000. The Brigham City temple will be the 14th temple in Utah. Two more Utah temples are under construction in Payson and downtown Provo.

The new bronze doors of the Brigham City Utah Temple have been installed in all of their golden splendor. The white double-towered temple is a stunning landmark in this Northern Utah town of 18,000. It will soon take its place as the 14th temple in Utah and the 139th in the world.

Video Invitations Released for Temple Open Houses
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released invitational videos to the open houses of the Brigham City Utah Temple and the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple. Both temples open to the general public next month for a period of several weeks before being dedicated.

Gilding the Monument Signs at the Brigham City Utah Temple
Workers at the Brigham City Utah Temple are carefully applying a sealer to the letters of the monument signs located at the corners of the property, which will later be covered with a beautiful layer of gold leaf. The signs identify the full name of the church and the temple.

First President and Matron of Brigham City Temple Called
Preston J. Checketts, 68, of the Brigham City Utah North Stake has been called as the first president of the Brigham City Utah Temple. President Checketts' wife, Louise B. Checketts, will serve as temple matron. President Checketts presently serves as a stake patriarch and his wife as scribe.

In Brigham City, Trees Go Up; Webcam Comes Down
The webcam that has delivered minute-to-minute construction updates of the Brigham City Utah Temple has been permanently removed, along with the pole that held the device, to make way for a sidewalk. The final shot is still accessible, showing some of the newly planted trees.

Brigham City Sycamore Trees Brought Down
On Tuesday, April 3, six sycamore trees in front of the Brigham City Utah Temple were removed, leaving four trees that match the spacing of the four trees in front of the tabernacle. A new landscape plan is also proposed for the tabernacle, which complements the temple plan.

Brigham City Sycamores Slated for Removal
Six of the ten sycamore trees lining Main Street along the Brigham City Utah Temple block are slated for removal to improve visibility of the temple and to create a balance with the four sycamore trees along the Tabernacle block across the street. Mayor Dennis Fife made the proposal, which was agreeable to the shade tree commission who noted the 160 new trees planned for the temple grounds. The request was subsequently approved by the City Council.

The team of dedicated workers at the Brigham City Utah Temple has placed the building ahead of schedule with completion anticipated this summer. Speculation of the open house and dedication dates could end as early as next month when the official announcement is expected to be made.

A wide variety of trees and shrubs are arriving at the Brigham City Utah Temple, ready to be incorporated into the beautiful grounds. Plans call for a variety of fruit trees, celebrating the area's roots in fruit growing. Construction of the temple could be completed by early summer.

Setting in Stone the Address of the Brigham City Utah Temple
Construction activity at the Brigham City Utah Temple continues going strong where the stairs and sidewalks are being poured, lamp posts are being installed, stone is being applied to exposed cement surfaces, soil is being filled into planters, and numerous trees have arrived in preparation for planting. A significant stone that has been installed is the address marker bearing the words: 250 South. The temple is located at 250 South Main Street.

Trucks equipped with conveyor systems are dumping mound after mound of soil into the planters located on the south side of the Brigham City Utah Temple, as seen in shots from the webcam. On the north side of the temple, concrete work continues.

Making a Celestial Addition to the Brigham City Utah Temple
Panes of glass are being installed today for the Celestial Room window of the Brigham City Utah Temple where work continues to progress both inside and out. Large loads of sheetrock have been delivered to the looming white structure with some rooms nearing completion and others just being started. A circular water feature is being installed in front of the main entrance, and beautiful, rustic rock is being attached to exposed cement surfaces.

Decorative Fence Installation at the Brigham City Utah Temple
Beautifully detailed wrought iron is being installed at the Brigham City Utah Temple between previously installed fence posts engraved with peach blossoms. All exposed cement is being covered with an attractive rock facing or a carved stucco veneer echoing the pattern in the fence.

Peach Blossom Motif at Brigham City Utah Temple
Brigham City's history in fruit growing is celebrated in the design of the Brigham City Utah Temple, which uses a peach blossom motif. Peach growing was initiated in Box Elder County in 1855. The annual peach harvest was so successful that a Peach Days celebration was started in 1904.

The name of the Brigham City Utah Temple has been literally set in stone with the addition of beautiful new monument signs on site. Work is also underway on a large circular water feature at the front entrance. The decorative fence will soon be installed between the peach blossom posts.

Inscribed in three separate locations on the Brigham City Utah Temple are the sacred words: Holiness to the Lord—The House of the Lord. This divine phrase, taken from instructions given in Exodus 28:36, is now receiving an application of gold leaf by a team of specialists.

Brigham City Utah Temple Receiving Copper Roof
In another similarity to the Salt Lake Temple, the Brigham City Utah Temple will soon don a beautiful copper roof, covering the bright red material seen in captures from the temple webcam. The new temple will serve several stakes currently in the Logan and Ogden temple districts.

Workers Apply Stone Cladding to Brigham City Utah Temple
Exposed cement walls at the Brigham City Utah Temple are receiving a beautiful stone cladding that will help visually tie the exterior of the temple to the exterior of the tabernacle. Established in 1853, Brigham City is the final resting place of City founder and Church president Lorenzo Snow.

Mormon Corridor Construction and Renovation
The Brigham City Utah Temple, now receiving windows on its main floor, is one of a handful of temples undergoing construction or renovation along the Mormon Corridor. In northern Utah, the Ogden Utah Temple is coming down for extensive renovation as the Brigham City Utah Temple rises. In Western Idaho, the Boise Idaho Temple has closed for remodeling while construction of the Meridian Idaho Temple is awaited. And in the Phoenix metro area, two new temples are underway in Gilbert and in Phoenix proper.

The Brigham City Utah Temple has reached another milestone with the addition of a second, final spire on the west end of the building. The double spires—crowning the breathtaking white temple—lift the eyes and mind upward. The angel Moroni statue is scheduled for installation on July 12.

In a special fireside held Sunday, June 26, in the Box Elder Tabernacle and broadcast to meetinghouses in the future temple district, it was announced that the gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni will be hoisted atop the Brigham City Utah Temple on Tuesday, July 12, at 12:00 noon.

Onlookers Watch Eastern Tower Added to the Brigham City Utah Temple
Brigham City residents gathered with eager anticipation today as the eastern tower of the Brigham City Utah Temple was hoisted into place, bringing closer the installation of the angel Moroni statue—a widely recognized symbol of the Church. On the west side of the building, a slightly shorter tower will also be installed. White panels have been attached to the exterior of the building over recent weeks, transforming the structure into a beautiful House of the Lord.

Brigham City Utah Temple Design Is Reminiscent of Pioneer-Era Temple Construction
Steel framing is underway for the built-out corners of the Brigham City Utah Temple, which will give the sacred structure a similar look to other pioneer-era temples in Utah including the Salt Lake Temple, the Manti Utah Temple, and the nearby Logan Utah Temple. Non-temple surfaces surrounding the edifice, including retaining structures and exposed parking walls, will be faced with a beautiful light-colored natural stone. View the webcam!

Advancements continue on the construction of the Brigham City Utah Temple where the three floors have been framed and corrugated metal is being attached. Steel girders are rising on the east and west sides of the temple to form the projections that will bear the two spires.

With reinforced concrete corner and basement walls in place, steel framing has commenced for the Brigham City Utah Temple including the floors for the main and second levels. The edifice will have a basement and three above-ground levels. The third level will feature ordinance rooms.

Brigham City residents were elated when President Thomas S. Monson announced the construction of a temple to stand across from the historic Box Elder Tabernacle. A year later, excavation and rough grading are largely completed at the Brigham City Utah Temple site, and utilities are being installed.

At the Brigham City Utah Temple construction site, earth movers have started excavation and grading work. The lower parking will be accessed from 100 West. Due to the natural slope from Main Street to 100 West, the floor of the parking facility will be nearly level with the street.

President Boyd K. Packer Breaks Ground for the Brigham City Utah Temple
On Saturday, July 31, ground was broken for Utah's 14th temple in Brigham City, Utah. President Boyd K. Packer, president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and a native of Brigham City, presided over the services and unveiled a beautiful architectural rendering of the building, largely inspired by the Salt Lake Temple. The Brigham City temple will stand on Main Street directly across from the historic Box Elder Tabernacle.

Brigham City Temple Features Historical Design
Approval was granted at a Planning Commission meeting on June 15 for the design of the Brigham City Utah Temple. Designers incorporated historical elements that reflect both the city and the classical designs seen in Logan, Manti, and Salt Lake.

Church Officials Announce Location of Brigham City Temple
Church officials have put speculation to rest by disclosing the location of the Brigham City Utah Temple as a 3-acre commercial site directly west of the Box Elder Tabernacle at 250 South Main Street. Applied Geotechnical Engineering Consultants gathered core samples from the site earlier this month.

During the Saturday morning session of the 179th Semiannual General Conference, President Thomas S. Monson announced plans to construct 5 new temples in the following locations: Brigham City, Utah; Concepción, Chile; Fortaleza, Brazil; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Sapporo, Japan.
