Ready for Roof Slab in Durban
A maze of scaffolding surrounds the top floor of the Durban South Africa Temple as crews prepare to pour the roof slab. The basement bricklaying is finished, and stairwell construction continues. Brickwork on the temple president's apartment nears completion while roofs have been completed on two of the entrance buildings.

Preparing to Roof in Durban
As brickwork begins at the president's residence and continues at the missionary housing and temple basement, the temple infill panel has been poured and roof decking preparations have begun. Subcontractors on site include electricians, plumbers, and air-conditioning technicians. The mechanical facility is being backfilled.

Loads of bricks continue to arrive at the nearly waterproofed Durban South Africa Temple. They are being laid in the temple basement and in the missionary housing. Work continues on plumbing, electrical, sewer, and stair construction. The east soffit wall of the temple has been poured.

Work in the basements of the Durban South Africa Temple and missionary housing includes the installation of stairs, sanding of concrete ceilings, and laying of brick. Roofs for two entrance facilities and the top of the housing elevator shaft were poured. Steel is set for the east soffit wall of the temple.

A black waterproofing membrane is being applied to the exterior of the Durban South Africa Temple while inside, the basement floor has been poured. Brickwork has begun at the missionary housing and the top floor ring has been poured. Decking is ready for roof slabs on two of the entrance buildings.

Long bars of steel stretch across the walls, which will reinforce the concrete floor slab. At the temple, workers will soon pour the upper floor slab.

Groundbreaking Announced for Durban South Africa Temple
The First Presidency has announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Durban South Africa Temple will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Attendance at the temple site is by invitation, but a live Internet feed of the ceremony will be transmitted to meetinghouses within the temple district.
