Pouring Curbing at the Lisbon Portugal Temple
Inside the long vertical openings along each side of the Lisbon Portugal Temple, workers are framing window openings for the main and upper levels of the building. Behind the adjoining meetinghouse, heavy equipment is leveling the ground and pouring curbing for the future parking area.

Piercing the blue skies over Portugal's beautiful capital city is newly installed spire framework that has been set in place atop the concrete structural walls of the main body of the Lisbon Portugal Temple steeple. Construction of the temple is expected to conclude next year.

With the structural concrete completed for the Lisbon Portugal Temple, workers have turned their attention to waterproofing and cladding the exterior walls and starting work on the interior. A system of scaffolding and netting has been placed around the entire structure like the adjoining meetinghouse.

Scaffolding has come down from around the concrete structural walls for the steeple of the Lisbon Portugal Temple, revealing its beautifully simple form. A round and rectangular set of art glass windows will be installed in the narrow openings on each side of the steeple.

Steeple Progress at Lisbon Portugal Temple
Concrete walls have been poured for the steeple of the Lisbon Portugal Temple, which will support a tapering gold-colored spire topped by a statue of the angel Moroni. Netting has been attached to the scaffolding surrounding the building to help minimize the impact of construction.

The first section of walls for the steeple base of the Lisbon Portugal Temple has been poured, and rebar has been set for the narrower section that will rise above it. The elegant structure will feature a window-filled middle section topped by a gold-leafed spire and angel Moroni statue.

With the main exterior walls poured for the Lisbon Portugal Temple, crew members are turning their attention to the roof slab and steeple base walls by setting rebar and concrete forms. The on-site meetinghouse is still shrouded in scaffolding and netting as exterior cladding progresses.

Concrete forms have been removed from the second level exterior walls of the Lisbon Portugal Temple. The center of the building will rise higher yet and be topped with a glass-filled steeple and golden spire. The temple is the fourteenth to be constructed on the European continent.

More Walls Poured for Lisbon Portugal Temple
Concrete forms have filled in the upper rear side of the Lisbon Portugal Temple as crews continue to pour the reinforced concrete exterior walls of the building. The temple will be the second on the Iberian Peninsula, joining the Madrid Spain Temple, dedicated in 1999.

The first wall section has been poured for the upper level of the Lisbon Portugal Temple. And with the help of sturdy cranes, laborers have set several more concrete forms in place for upcoming pours. The utility building foundation has been backfilled, leaving a small superstructure.

Construction of the Lisbon Portugal Temple has now risen above ground level. The main floor concrete slab was poured in recent weeks, and structural framing has begun to be erected. At the adjoining meetinghouse, structural framing is completed, and the exterior walls are being finished.

Preparing to Pour Floor Slab at the Lisbon Portugal Temple
At the Lisbon Portugal Temple construction site, the temple foundation walls have been sealed and a criss-crossed pattern of rebar has been laid across the top as preparations are made for pouring the main level floor slab. At the meetinghouse, crews continue to attach cladding to the exterior, and the main body of the detached spire has been poured. Construction advances on a largely underground ancillary building at the rear of the property.

With concrete forms set in place and a concrete pump overhead, crews are making progress on the foundation walls for the Lisbon Portugal Temple. The exterior walls of the adjacent meetinghouse are being prepared for insulation and cladding, and the utility building floor has been poured.

Excavators are making steady progress on creating an earthen cavity for the foundation of the Lisbon Portugal Temple. Just south of the temple, a meetinghouse is rising above ground with structural steel and concrete forming the building's skeleton. The complex is located on a public transit line.

After nearly four months of construction activity at the Lisbon Portugal Temple site, which has been focused on preparing the land and pouring the meetinghouse foundation, excavation has begun for the temple foundation. Until now, the site had served as a construction staging area.

Rebar and concrete are being combined inside the carved trenches at the Lisbon Portugal Temple complex to form the footings for the meetinghouse. A growing mound of dirt is being piled on the temple site, which is currently a staging area for the meetinghouse construction.

Deep cuts in the earth are the first signs of excavation activity at the Lisbon Portugal Temple site where preparation work continues for the foundation of the meetinghouse. At the temple site, heavy equipment has started to haul away chunks of asphalt from the former parking lot.

Land Purchase Completed for Lisbon Portugal Temple
At the end of December 2012, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints finalized acquisition of property within the Lisbon city limits for construction of its Lisbon Portugal Temple. A specific location of the site has not yet been announced.
