Landscaping Progress on the Mendoza Argentina Temple Grounds
The white walls and gold accents on the exterior of the Mendoza Argentina Temple are a striking combination for Argentina's fourth house of the Lord. It stands in the foothills of the Andes Mountains as a reminder of God's love for His children. Landscapers are making excellent progress and are in the final stages of completing the grounds.
Scaffolding Reaches the Top of the San Diego California Temple
Scaffolding has been extended to the tops of the spires of the San Diego California Temple in preparation for refurbishment of the finials and angel Moroni statue. Renovation of the temple has been underway for the past seven-and-a-half months. Leaks in the roof and windows have been addressed while outdated systems and materials are being replaced inside. Over 720,000 visitors toured the temple when it opened in 1993.
Framing the Roof for the Yorba Linda California Temple
A waterproofing sealant is turning the bluish exterior walls of the Yorba Linda California Temple a concrete-like gray. Inside the walls, steel framing is underway for the roof, the load-bearing walls and columns, and the window frames. Concrete has been poured for the baptismal font and stairs and for the curbing in the parking areas. Several shipments of marble and granite cladding have arrived, but prayers are requested for the prompt delivery of other materials that have been delayed in transit.
Handsome Front Portico of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple
The temporary chain-link fence along the front side of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple site has been moved back, providing better views of the beautiful building including the main entrance portico. The portico features three arched openings that mirror the art glass doors and windows behind them. Handrails have been installed along the ramps and staircases. More plantings in the flowerbeds are expected in the spring.
Ephraim Utah Temple Welcome Center Hours Extended
The missionary couple overseeing the Ephraim Utah Temple have extended the regular operating hours of the Welcome Center during the open house of the Manti Utah Temple, located just 7 miles south of Ephraim on Highway 89. Visitors can hear about the construction progress and receive activity books for their children. Stone cladding is making progress on the north and east sides of the temple.
Beautiful Brickwork of the Harare Zimbabwe Temple
A recent photograph of the Harare Zimbabwe Temple shows the beautiful brickwork that has been installed on the exterior surfaces of the temple and the landscape walls. The cream-colored blocks were laid in a running bond pattern with a soldier course along the top beneath the ornamental coping stones. The lighter color of the temple stands apart from the surrounding buildings, distinguishing it as a house of the Lord.
Toucans Watch the Construction of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple
In the forested areas around the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple, a pair of toucans can often be spotted watching the construction activity from the nearby trees. A wide variety of birds live in these forests, which create a striking backdrop for the temple. Concrete and steel have been forming the building's main structure over the past nine months. Work is underway on the roof and on building the foundational support for the tower.
Steeple Rising Over the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple
Crews are building the frame for the central steeple of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. The two-story edifice stands on a major boulevard on the western side of Guatemala's capital city. It is the fourth temple to be constructed in Guatemala. Two more have been announced for the cities of Huehuetenango and Retalhuleu. Construction on the project began 15 months ago.
Public Tours of the Urdaneta Philippines Temple Begin Monday
The public is invited to an open house of the Urdaneta Philippines Temple. Tours will be offered daily from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. beginning Monday, March 18, and continuing through Saturday, March 30, 2024, except for Sunday, March 24, when the temple will be closed. The open house is an opportunity for people of all faiths to learn about this sacred structure of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tours are free and last approximately one hour. No reservations are needed. The temple design reflects both the Spanish and Asian influences on the Philippines and contains design references to the mango and the sampaguita flower.
Location Announced for the Savai'i Samoa Temple
On Monday, March 11, the location for the Savai'i Samoa Temple was announced as a 5.5-acre site located next to the Don Bosco College and Vocational Technical Center at Lot 1098 to Lot 1105 in Fataloa, a subarea of Salelologa village on the southeast coast of Savai’i. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 29,630 square feet. The temple will be the second in the country of Samoa, joining the Apia Samoa Temple (1983). A temple is also under construction in the United States territory of American Samoa.
Groundbreaking Services Held for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple
On Saturday, March 9, 2024, groundbreaking services were held for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple. In attendance were religious leaders, government officials, journalists, special guests, and dozens of Church members. Elder Sean Douglas of the Mexico Area Presidency presided at the ceremony and pronounced the site dedicatory prayer. He prayed, "Help us to increase our commitment to keep our covenants."
Interior Photographs of the Manti Utah Temple Released
Interior photographs of the renovated Manti Utah Temple were released today on the first day of the open house. Invited guests will be offered tours through Wednesday, March 13, and the public will be given tours of the historic temple from Thursday, March 14, through Friday, April 5, 2024, excluding Sundays. The magnificent murals and stunning staircases were preserved and restored as part of the project.
Masonry Wall Installed Around the Syracuse Utah Temple Site
At the western and southern extents of the Syracuse Utah Temple site, a masonry wall has been installed along the property lines. The temple faces 2500 W in Syracuse and is surrounded by farmland on three sides. With the majority of the hardscape in place, a significant amount of planting on the grounds is anticipated to occur in the spring. Scaffolding surrounds the base of the steeple and three sides of the upper walls where stone cladding and joint filling is progressing.
Elder Bednar and Elder Kearon Visit the Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple
During a 10-day ministry to the members in Africa last month, Elder David A. Bednar and Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stood for a photograph with their wives and other accompanying Church leaders at the Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple. At the conclusion of the ministry, Elder Bednar said: "We love being here. We love these people. And we love this place." Ornamental grills have been installed over the windows of the temple, and landscaping efforts continue.
Cupola and Finial Installed on the Grand Junction Colorado Temple
The cupola and finial for the Grand Junction Colorado Temple were secured to the top of the steeple on Thursday, March 7, bringing the sacred structure to its final height. The temple rises prominently over the roundabout where Horizon Drive and North 12th Street intersect. Grand Junction is the largest city between Salt Lake City, Utah, and Denver, Colorado.
Erecting a Construction Office for the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple
At the end of the missionary field in Provo, a construction office is being erected for the contractors of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple. A level platform was created and temporary electrical poles were installed in preparation for the building. Concrete pipe has been staged for months for work to be carried out on water mains around the temple. Moving vans have been used to remove furnishings from the current temple.
Finish Work Getting Underway Inside the Elko Nevada Temple
Finish work has begun inside the Elko Nevada Temple where framing and utility rough-ins have been completed, and all of the drywall has been hung. Painting, tiling, and millwork are in the early phases with many months of work yet ahead. Clear glass has been installed in the window openings, which will protect the stained glass that will be added later. The exterior granite is nearly finished.
Cladding the Central Steeple of the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple
Beautifully ornamented cladding is being hung on the exterior surfaces of the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple including the exquisite central spire. Glass is being installed in the window openings of both the temple and the ancillary building where interior framing and utility rough-ins are progressing. Work also continues on a masonry wall that is being constructed along the rear side of the temple site near the Techno School.
Steeple Frame Rising for the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple
The steel frame for the steeple of the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple is rising from within the exterior walls forms. The completed structure will reach a height of 120 feet. Steel columns and beams are also framing the front portico and upper mechanical level. The work of cladding the exterior in granite panels is getting underway.
Site Cleared and Excavation Started for the Kaohsiung Taiwan Temple
A satellite image taken last month of the Kaohsiung Taiwan Temple site shows that the land has been cleared and excavation has begun for the buildings in the complex. A construction fence surrounds the property where materials have been staged and heavy equipment is in use. The groundbreaking event for this house of the Lord was held three-and-a-half months ago on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple President and Matron Called
Ricardo Valladares Banegas and Eleana Auxiliadora Calona Lemus de Valladares have been called as the first president and matron of the San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple. President Valladares serves as a counselor in the Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple presidency and is a former Area Seventy, mission president, stake president, high councilor, bishop and elders quorum president. Sister Valladares is an assistant to the matron and a former mission president companion, ward Relief Society president, Young Women president, and Primary president.
First President and Matron Called of the Antofagasta Chile Temple
Claudio Antonio Manuel González Salamanca and Yolanda Patricia Torrejon Vergara de González have been called as the first president and matron of the Antofagasta Chile Temple. President González is a former stake president, high councilor, and bishop born in Santiago, Chile. Sister González is a former stake Primary president and ward Primary president born in El Tofo, Chile.
Cladding of the Grand Junction Colorado Temple Nearing Completion
Cladding of the exterior surfaces of the Grand Junction Colorado Temple is nearing completion. Stone has been attached to the steeple, leaving the front portico to be finished. Picket panels are being installed between the fence posts that were previously anchored to a concrete curb. Construction will reach the two-year mark next month.
Building the Steeple Pedestal for the Managua Nicaragua Temple
The steeple pedestal for the Managua Nicaragua Temple is rising brick by brick over the center of the roof. The main floor concrete walls are being coated, and pilaster frames are being attached. The front portico is in place, which features arched entryways and quatrefoil openings. The exterior walls for the ancillary building have been erected, and framing for the pitched roof is underway. Construction began about 15 months ago.
Ownership of the Kirtland Temple Is Transferred to the Church
Ownership of the Kirtland Temple has been transferred from the Community of Christ to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as announced today in a Church news release. Other significant properties that are changing hands include the Smith Family Homestead, the Mansion House, the Nauvoo House, and the Red Brick Store, along with various manuscripts and artifacts. President Russell M. Nelson said, "We thank our friends at Community of Christ for their great care and cooperation in preserving these historical treasures thus far. We are committed to doing the same."
Open House Reservations Available for the Taylorsville Utah Temple
Free reservations to tour the interior of the Taylorsville Utah Temple are now available. The open house begins Saturday, April 13, and continues through Saturday, May 18, with no tours held on Sundays. Comfortable shoes and modest dress are encouraged. Parking is available at 2780 W 4700 S where attendees will board a shuttle bus to take to the temple grounds. Reservations and additional information are available online.
Jakarta Indonesia Temple Site Location Announced
On Monday, March 4, the location of the Jakarta Indonesia Temple was announced as a 1.33-acre site located at Synthesis Square, Jalan Gatot Subroto, No. 177a in the Tebet District of South Jakarta—an administrative city of Jakarta. Plans call for a four-story temple of approximately 40,350 square feet. It is the first house of the Lord to be constructed in the country of Indonesia.
Location for the Osaka Japan Temple Revealed
The location for the Osaka Japan Temple has been announced as a 16.74-acre site located at 3-50-1 Sugi, Hirakata City in the Osaka prefecture of Japan. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 29,630 square feet. This will be the fifth house of the Lord constructed in Japan, joining the Tokyo Japan Temple, Fukuoka Japan Temple, Sapporo Japan Temple, and Okinawa Japan Temple.
Exterior Rendering Released for the Budapest Hungary Temple
The official exterior rendering for the Budapest Hungary Temple has been released. The 18,000-square-foot house of the Lord will be constructed on a 5.92-acre site located at the intersection of Kocsis Sándor út and Borsikafū utca in the Harsánylejtő neighborhood of Budapest. An arrival center and patron housing are also part of the project. It is the first temple to be constructed in the country of Hungary.
Sheathing the Exterior of the Montpelier Idaho Temple
Framing studs are being affixed to the exterior of the Montpelier Idaho Temple, followed by yellow sheathing boards that are reinforced with high-density glass fiber. On the west face of the building, the arched frame for the main window has been secured into place. Inside, ducts are being installed for the heating and air conditioning systems, and concrete has been poured for the remaining floor slabs.
