Steady Progress at the Oklahoma City Oklahoma TempleA pile of framing lumber sits in the staging area of the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple as framers attach walls studs to the building's exterior to form the decorative pilasters. Waterproofing of the exterior is also underway as plumbing and electrical are roughed in on the interior.

Structural Framing for Steeple Completed in Oklahoma CityNumerous crates of building materials have arrived at the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple as renovation of the building continues. Crews have attached the rest of the steel framework for the steeple, and scaffolding has gone up one corner where it appears that waterproofing is underway.

Wall Sheathing Attached to Oklahoma City Temple EntranceThe wall sheathing covering the majority of the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is now being extended to the newly framed entrance lobby. The selected product provides more moisture protection than other housewrap products, minimizing the risk of mold issues.

Framing the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple EntranceFramers are setting the studs for new the entrance lobby being added to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple. Plastic film is covering several of the window openings to help protect the interior of the building from dust and weather. Renovation has been underway for four months.

Sheathing the Exterior of the Oklahoma City TempleAt the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, structural framing for the base of the new steeple has been erected, and wall sheathing has been attached to the majority of the exterior walls. Installers have begun to rough-in some of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The entrance canopy and much of the stone cladding has also been removed.

Entrance Canopy Removed from Oklahoma City TempleSubcontractors at the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple are working hard during the demolition phase of the temple renovation. The entrance canopy and doors have been removed along with the art glass windows. The exterior cladding is coming down one piece at a time.

Marble Cladding Coming Down at Oklahoma City TempleAs the renovation of the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple progresses, pieces of marble cladding are coming off the exterior of the building while crews remove the retaining walls around the grounds. The temple closed three weeks ago and is expected to be completed in 2019.

Angel Moroni Removed from Spire of Oklahoma City Oklahoma TempleWith renovation underway for the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, the beloved angel Moroni statue has been carefully lifted off the spire and stored for refurbishment. The temple will undergo a complete interior and exterior renovation that will give the building an updated exterior appearance and modify the existing floor plan to be more efficient. The temple was originally dedicated over 17 years ago by President James E. Faust.

Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple to CloseOn Sunday, October 15, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple will close for over a year for major renovation. It is expected that the exterior appearance of the building will be changed. Watch a video presentation of photographs honoring the temple.
