Visitors to the Rome Italy Temple will now be received at an information center. Hours are Monday–Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 3:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Open House and Dedication Announced for Rome Italy Temple
The public is invited to tour the Rome Italy Temple during a free open house to be held Monday, January 28, through Saturday, February 16, 2019, excluding Sundays. The temple will be formally dedicated in sessions held Sunday, March 10, through Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Seeing the towers of the Rome Italy Temple without scaffolding has been a rare sight since steel framing was first erected in 2013. After a contractor change, the scaffolding was briefly removed and new scaffolds were erected in late 2015. That scaffolding has finally come down.

Landscaping Progress at the Rome Italy Temple
The grounds around the Rome Italy Temple are taking shape as crews lay irrigation lines for the garden areas and fence posts are dropped around the perimeter. Beautiful palm trees were planted several weeks ago at each corner of the temple, and art glass installation continues.

Construction of the Rome Italy Temple is making encouraging strides following some delays that were experienced earlier this year. Installation continues on 800 panes of art glass while palm trees and other plants are added to the grounds. Scaffolding is being removed from the east tower.

A Preview of the Christus and Apostle Statues in Rome
Newly released video taken inside the Rome Italy Temple visitors' center shows the marble reproductions of Bertel Thorvaldsen's Christus with all twelve apostles, which were installed in the fall of 2016. The marble used came from the very same quarry used for the originals.

New missionary arrivals are welcomed to the Italy Rome Mission with a visit to the beautiful four-building Rome Italy Temple complex, which has been under construction for over six years. Art glass for the temple is expected to be shipped for installation in the spring.

With construction proceeding steadily and stably at the Rome Italy Temple, members have been invited to participate in a special fast of thanksgiving this Sunday. During a July visit, President Uchtdorf said: "The temple will not be ready this year, but WE need to be ready for the temple this year."

Earthquake Devastates Towns in Central Italy
Just after 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Italy, devastating towns and killing hundreds. A Church news release states that all missionaries and members are alive and well. The earthquake was felt in Rome but did not damage the temple.

Oaks and his wife, Sister Kristen M. Oaks, toured the temple site as part of a visit to Italy. Elder and Sister Oaks spoke at a special fireside held in Rome on December 27.

New construction progress can now be seen at the Rome Italy Temple where the framework for the eastern spire has been installed. In the coming days, the framework will be clad with stone and topped by a gold-leafed figure of the angel Moroni. Several months of construction remain.

For most of the year, construction at the Rome Italy Temple has been limited and focused largely on replacing materials or redoing work. As of September, however, regular construction is moving forward. Due to a subcontractor change, scaffolding was removed and is now going back up.

Scaffolding Removed from the Rome Italy Temple Towers
Scaffolding has seemed like a permanent fixture at the Rome Italy Temple, which has surrounded the building for approximately three years. This week, the final scaffolds were taken down, changing the appearance of the exterior of the temple for the first time in 18 months. Heavy equipment can be seen on site, signaling an end to long construction delays and a revival of large-scale construction efforts, which are expected to continue well into next year.

Rome Granite Nearly Finished
The walls of the Rome Italy Temple, curved in the Baroque Revival style, have nearly all been covered in slabs of contoured polished granite. The curved lines continue on the inside, creating unique challenges such as hanging walls and artwork. Construction continues on the other three buildings in the complex, which will surround a traditional central plaza open to the public.

Motorists traveling in northern Rome are taking note of the rising Rome Italy Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located just off the circular beltway that surrounds the city.
