Cupola Frame Added to the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

The cupola frame has been secured to the top of the tower that rises over the center of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. The exterior walls are being wrapped in a vapor barrier to protect the porous concrete from moisture damage. Box fans are being used in some of the window openings to circulate fresh air through the building.

Steeple Rising Over the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

Crews are building the frame for the central steeple of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. The two-story edifice stands on a major boulevard on the western side of Guatemala's capital city. It is the fourth temple to be constructed in Guatemala. Two more have been announced for the cities of Huehuetenango and Retalhuleu. Construction on the project began 15 months ago.

More Walls Rise for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

It has been 13 months since construction began on a second temple for Guatemala's capital city. The Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple is rising one block west of Calzada Aguilar Batres, a major thoroughfare that connects the northern and southern regions of the city. The second-story exterior walls of the temple have cured, and rebar has been set for the parapet that will rise from the edge of the roofline.

Second Floor Walls for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

With the first-floor walls in place for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, crews are now setting concrete forms and reinforcing steel bar for the second-floor walls. The 30,000-square-foot temple will join the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, dedicated in 1984, to serve members from eighteen stakes in Guatemala City and several additional stakes in the outlying region.

Building the Superstructure of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

At the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple construction site, the majority of the concrete exterior walls and load-bearing interior walls have been installed. The weight of the steeple will be transferred through these interior walls to the foundation below. An opening was left for the baptismal font in the floor slab for the main level, and window openings can be seen in the exterior walls.

Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple Foundation Excavation

Major excavation has been completed for the foundation of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. Piles of fill and aggregate sit in the base of the excavation pit while a safety fence surrounds the upper perimeter. The two-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet (2,787 square meters) is being constructed on a 1.5-acre (0.6-hectare) lot near Calzada Aguilar Batres—a major Guatemala City thoroughfare.

Building a Foundation for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

The building will stand on a 1.5-acre site in the Zone 11 neighborhood of Roosevelt, which borders the Miraflores neighborhood. Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple Groundbreaking Held

Ground was broken for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, second counselor in the Central America Area presidency, presided at the event. During the program, a pioneering member of the Church shared that he had been a temple worker for almost three decades and that he knew of the joy of our ancestors who have their ordinance work performed in the House of the Lord. Elder Giuffra said that Heavenly Father has asked us to construct temples on the earth as a place of refuge and worship for His children.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, second counselor in the Central America Area presidency, will preside. The temple will be constructed on the 1.5-acre site of the former Roosevelt Ward meetinghouse at the intersection of 13 Calle and 5A Avenida in Guatemala City. The two-story temple will be approximately 30,000 square feet.

Official Name Revealed for Guatemala City's Second Temple

A Church news release published today has revealed the official name for the temple announced for the greater Guatemala City area in the October 2020 General Conference. The temple will be known as the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. Miraflores is a popular name for venues in the area including major shopping and entertainment complexes, residential developments, medical centers, and parks. The 30,000-square-foot temple will be built on the site of the Roosevelt Ward meetinghouse. No groundbreaking date has been announced yet.

Location and Rendering Revealed for the Greater Guatemala City Temple

The temple announced for the greater Guatemala City, Guatemala, area will be constructed on the 1.5-acre site where the Roosevelt Ward meetinghouse stands at the intersection of 13 Calle and 5A Avenida in Guatemala City. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. The temple will be the fourth for Guatemala, joining the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, the Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple, and the Cobán Guatemala Temple (currently under construction). No groundbreaking date has been scheduled yet.
